A Message from the Acting Dean

Dr. David BristolWelcome to the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. This is an extraordinary environment whether you are a member of the faculty, student body, staff or a client of our Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Our College has excelled in its teaching, research, and engagement activities because of our exceptional faculty. We offer world-class clinical services in our hospital, our researchers have gained international recognition and are making a difference in the lives of humans as well as animals, and our engagement programs offer critical services that are viewed as a valuable public resource.

Providing an excellent veterinary education is our priority, of course, and the success of our graduates—whether in private or corporate practice, laboratory research, public service, or academia—attest to the strength of our teaching mission.

This is an exciting era for veterinary medicine. Our field is a broad and dynamic discipline that touches every person on a daily basis whether that contact is direct, as with domestic animals that serve as our pets or livelihood, or indirect through food production and its safety, wildlife, or the health of entire ecosystems. Our well being—as individuals and as a species—is interrelated with that of animals and veterinary researchers play a critical role in helping to solve cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases, respiratory diseases, and numerous other human ills.

The faculty, students, and staff at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine are committed to advancing animal and human health in our state, our nation and—through our international programs—throughout our world. I am proud of our community and what it has accomplished, and I know we will be prepared to respond to future opportunities.

Please review our web presentation for more information on our people, programs, and activities and do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

Sincerely,

David Bristol signature
