NC Museum Veterinary Services Case Manager
Position serves as the Veterinary Services Medical Case Manager in the Veterinary Services Unit (VetS) of Educational Living Collections under direct supervision of the Museum’s Chief Veterinarian. The Veterinary Services Unit offers a unique mix of veterinary medicine, research opportunities, government and university partnerships, and the opportunity to interact with and educate the public about veterinary medicine.
Position spends the majority of his/her time in the VetS clinical space managing medical cases at the Window on Animal Health while interacting with the public. Position assists VetS staff in the medical care and husbandry of Museum animals in quarantine and medical isolation. Position leads medical case rounds with staff and students and regularly present selected cases and veterinary medical topics to the general public at the Window. Position applies veterinary knowledge to Museum medicine and public communication and education.
Teaching and Education: Position has direct contact with pre-veterinary student interns and 1st-4th year veterinary students and participates in their clinical training at the Museum or at the NCSU CVM Veterinary Health Complex. Position interacts with the public while managing medical cases and presenting veterinary medical topics. Position may have the opportunity to present to peers as assigned and may assist with the instruction of courses at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine (NCSU-CVM).
Research: Position will be encouraged to participate in at least one research project or one significant clinical case with the intent of publishing a clinical case report.
