Emerging Issues in Clinical Veterinary Parasitology
August 22 , 2009
About the course
Clinical parasitology (diagnosis, treatment, control and prevention) represents a large effort (time, expenses, income) for the practicing veterinarian. Within the past few years, veterinary parasitology has witnessed many emerging challenges; from pet-wildlife interactions, to emerging parasitic diseases, to issues of anthelmintic resistance. Some of these challenges have been met with new parasite diagnostics and control strategies. This course examines some of theses emerging issues, including emerging pet parasitisms, updated heartworm therapy, diagnosis and control of important protozoan parasites, and the growing concern of drug resistance.
