Dr. Ford is the author/editor of three books, including the Handbook of Veterinary Procedures and Emergency Treatment, now in its 7th Edition. He is currently a member of the Feline Vaccination Advisory Panel and a co-author of the Feline Vaccination Guidelines (US).

Dr. Ford is the Past President of the North American Veterinary Conference and continues his role as a member of the scientific program committee for that Congress. Dr. Ford is a Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve and is assigned to the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General.
