Course Offerings

All students in the program should have a base line foundation in the biomedical sciences.

Courses for the first year students include:

CBS 565 Fundamentals in Biomedical Sciences
CBS 662 Professional Conduct in Biomedical Research
CBS 800/810 Seminar (Fall semester)
Concentration area specific seminar/journal club (Spring semester)
CBS 893 Doctoral Supervised Research (CBS693 for Master's)
One of the following courses in statistics or epidemiology*
ST 511 Experimental Statistics for Biological Sciences I
CBS 795G Fundamentals of Epidemiology
CBS 760 Molecular Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases of Veterinary and Public Health Importance
EPI 160 Fundamentals of Epidemiology (offered at UNC)

First year students will select their additional courses in consultation with the program director and relevant concentration area leader. Senior students will select the remaining courses in their program based on the requirements for their concentration area and research focus in consultation with their advisor and graduate advisory committee.
