Graduate Programs
Professional and graduate student education is a fundamental mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. The College offers a wide variety of professional and graduate programs, including dual (DVM/PhD, DVM/MBA) degree programs, and traditional PhD and Master's programs. The Comparative Biomedical Sciences program is the largest College-based graduate program, comprised of approximately 65 faculty teaching in five concentration areas. Other graduate programs (Biomathematics, Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, Genomics, Immunology, Physiology) include faculty from other Colleges though many are lead by CVM faculty. College faculty are also affiliated with graduate programs administered by departments (e.g., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Toxicology) housed within other colleges at NCSU. Finally, College graduate students have the flexibility to supplement their chosen degree program by taking advantage of international training opportunities and choosing from a wide variety of minors including a minor in biotechnology via the NCSU Biotechnology training program.
In aggregate, the College of Veterinary Medicine offers some of the most diverse and flexible graduate training opportunities in the biological and biomedical sciences at NCSU. These opportunities are supported by College departments and research centers situated on the NCSU Centennial Biomedical Campus, Southern Pines, and coastal North Carolina.
