Application process for senior veterinary students

Students applying to the MVPH program should obtain, complete, and submit an application to the NCSU graduate program. Application kits can be obtained at the following Internet pages:


All applications require a completed on-line or written application that includes the following:
  • College transcripts.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • A letter of intent articulating the students career interests.
  • GRE scores are not required for graduates of US accredited Colleges of Veterinary Medicine (AAVMC), but recent scores that have been obtained in the past five years are appreciated.
  • GRE scores are required for international students whose veterinary degrees are not from a US accredited institution.
  • The TOEFL English language examination is required for international students whose primary language is not English must meet NCSU minimium TOEFL requirements.

    Applications will not be reviewed by the University and the MVPH program committee until all required application materials are received.

Letters of Recommendation:

Letters of recommedation can be submitted on-line using the provided forms or by mail. In addition to the recommedation forms, a personalized letter of recommedation can be submitted.

US Army Veterinary Corps, and US Air Force Public Health Veterinarians:

A letter of competiveness can be provided by the program director in advance of completing your application. However, actual acceptance into the graduate program requires a completed application. Consequently prospective US Armed Services students are encouraged to complete their application while waiting to hear about their continuing education status and assignment from their Armed Services education coordinator.

To obtain a letter of competitiveness please contact the program director Jay Levine (919 513-6397, Jay_Levine@ncsu.edu). A copy of your veterinary school college transcripts, and a curriculum vitae are needed. Transcripts can be sent by FAX (919 513-6464), or mail (4700 Hillbsborough St. Raleigh, NC 27606) directly to the program director.

Out-of State Tuition is waived for all currently listed US Armed Services Personnel while enrolled at NCSU

Applications from US residents are accepted throughout the year but must be received by June 25th for Fall semester.

All applications from students that are not US citizens must be received by March 1st.
