Recognition of Service
Service Awards
The Service Awards Program was created to provide recognition to staff employees for their years of service to the University. All permanent SPA employees are eligible to receive a service award every 5 years. Staff employees are presented with their awards by their respective departments in the month in which they are eligible. Once eligible for a service award, the CVM-HR coordinator will send instructions to the employee for ordering service award gifts.
The University Benefits Office partners with the NC State Bookstores to provide the gifts for service to the award recipients.

Service Retirements
Retirement Certificates
As a token of appreciation, departments may wish to present a retiring employee with a certificate signed by the Governor of North Carolina and NC State Chancellor. To be eligible, retiring university employees must have at least 10 years of state service. Departments should complete and submit both the Request for State Retirement Certificate Form and Interdepartmental Transfer Invoice together, to the University Benefits Office for prompt processing. Certificates are available within 4-6 weeks after both documents are received in the University Benefits Office (submission information on the bottom of the request form).
