Anesthesia Section

Mission

The goals of this section are; to provide safe and progressive anesthesia to patients of the veterinary teaching hospital; to train students, interns and resident in anesthesia techniques and theory; to advance veterinary anesthesia through research; and to be resource for local veterinarians through case consultation. 

Faculty and Staff

The Anesthesia Section is led by 4 Anesthesiologists all of whom are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists (DACVA) and include  Lysa Pam Posner, DVM, DACVA; Cliff Swanson, DVM, MS, DACVA, Nigel Campbell BVetMed, PhD, DACVIM, DACVA, MRCVS; Makoto Asakawa BVSc, DACVA.  The Anesthesia Section is also supported by 8 licensed veterinary technicians; 2 of whom hold specialty certification in Veterinary Anesthesia (VTS) and a dedicated hospital case scheduler.
