> Sarah Tilley, DVM 2013, has been admitted into the highly competitive Masters of Avian Medicine program at the University of Georgia and will begin the program in June following graduation.

> Dr. Jim Guy is the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Charles Beard Research Excellence Award

> Dr. Teresa DeFrancesco participated in Boehringer Ingelheim's Canine Heart Health Awareness campaign to promote awareness of canine heart health issues by conducting a series of national media interviews while in New York City on March 14.

> The NC State Bulletin reported Dr. Keven Flammer has been appointed Associate Dean and Director of Academic Affairs.

> The NC State Bulletin reported Dr. Kenneth Adler is reappointed editor of the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.

> Dr. Sam Jones is the recipient of the NC State Alumni Association Distinguished Graduate Professorship.

> Dr. John Cullen has been elected to serve a four-year term as Councilor on the Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) Executive Committee.

> Dr. Anthony Blikslager participated in a one hour “Ask the Expert,” a national, live call-in program concerning equine digestive health sponsored by The Horse. Dr. Blikslager also was interviewed for a post in the Blog DugDug concerning lameness, colic, respiratory ills and appropriate care to ensure equine health.

> Radio In Vivo science show interviewed Dr. Ed Breitschwerdt on Bartonella, the ''Hidden Epidemic."

> Dr. Greg Lewbart and 15 students traveled to Bermuda to study sea turtles and semi-tropical ecology and visit the Bermuda aquarium, museum, and zoo. Report in the Royal Gazette.

> Dr. Kelli Ferris is quoted in an Independent Week feature “The Truth About the Goathouse Refuge” on issues involving the Chatham County animal rescue. Dr. Ferris was featured in the March/ April issue Pet Life magazine (page 8) on the issue of hoarding. The publication available free to area veterinarian practices. The article had appeared in the CVM News Central blog.

> Dr. Brian Gilger is quoted on the challenges of treating equine recurrent uveitis in a feature article appearing in The Horse. Dr. Alison Code discusses ophthalmology research in the article.

Dr. Jay Levine and Chris Eads are working with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Endangered Species Program to save the Tar River spinymussel, one of only three freshwater spined mussels in U.S. See video.

> Dr. Denis Marcellin-Little is quoted in News & Observer article on animal prosthetics.

> Research technician Julie Nettifee Osborne worked with CVM friend Willard Moore for an article (page 43) on canine epilepsy and CVM research for the Triangle Dog magazine.  

> The CVM Student Chapter of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners came in third among eight finalists from an initial field of the various colleges of veterinary medicine in a BCF Technology competition based on votes to receive a ultrasound system. See CVM video.

> NC State Pre-Vet students referenced in News & Observer article in helping Pig Pals of NC 'persuade' potbellied pet pigs in moving to new, more spacious home.

> Graduates Amy Lehman Etingue and Adriana Fisher Hampel participated as staff veterinarians for the Iditarod Race.
