CVM's Changing Environment: The New View
Centennial Biomedical Campus
New Research Building Addition at the College of Veterinary Medicine

Today's research environment requires the finest state-of-the-art facilities and equipment in order to be competitive in retention and recruitment of stellar faculty and students and in obtaining extramural research grant funding, particularly at the federal level. We are planning our facilities and programs in such a way as to maximize interaction amongst our basic and clinical scientists. This is particularly evident with regard to our thrust in genomic sciences, gene therapy, DNA vaccine development, development of diagnostic tests, cancer immunotherapy and genetic manipulation of livestock and pet animals to prevent inherited and acquired diseases. Moreover, our newly finished 100,000 square feet research building is in close proximity to the current Veterinary Hospital and to the proposed Randall B. Terry Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center. The research building has a floor dedicated to housing animals for the purpose of transgenic animal research. Groundbreaking for the first building to be constructed on the Centennial Biomedical Campus, began the fall of 2002. Building dedication and occupancy occurred in April 2005. Thanks to Bovis Lend Lease for a job well done.
