Internal Medicine

Dedicated to excellence in educating and training veterinarians and comparative biomedical scientists and in furthering health care and wellness through discovery and clinical research.

Internal Medicine offers state-of-the-art medicine to our veterinary clients and provides an excellent learning environment for students, interns and residents while providing the best possible patient care. The department serves as a resource of information for veterinarians throughout the State of North Carolina and contributes to the discovery of new methods for the diagnosis and treatment of sick dogs and cats.

Veterinarians in private practice are able to diagnose and treat many of the conditions and diseases that affect pets. However, Internal Medicine specialists have undergone concentrated training programs in Internal Medicine and have passed the rigorous examinations of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. This training and experience have focused their knowledge and skills to improve their ability to diagnose and treat the problems presented.
