The NCSU VTH Pharmacy
staff offers pharmaceutical
care for many chronic
diseases including feline
diabetes mellitus.

The mission of the pharmacy parallels the ultimate fourfold purpose of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital: patient care, education, research, and community service. As a support service of the hospital, our primary existence and function are based on concern for patient care. The pharmacy staff performs with the highest regard for the patients they serve by providing and ensuring the most effective, safe, and economic drug therapy possible. We are committed to being a trusted, valued, and respected component of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Team.

Practitioner Prescribing Program

In order to facilitate care of the referred patients of the North Carolina veterinary practitioner community, the NCSU CVM VTH Pharmacy allows North Carolina-licensed veterinarians to enroll in a Practitioner Prescribing Program. This program gives prescribing privileges to NC veterinarians who refer cases to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. If you are a North Carolina-licensed veterinarian and would like to enroll in this program, please contact the Director of Pharmacy for details.

The NCSU VTH Pharmacy staff accepts 30
pharmacy students annually in a
veterinary medicine externship.

Clinical Research Program

The NCSU CVM VTH Pharmacy is committed to providing optimal pharmacotherapy and care for veterinary patients. To ensure that we provide safe, efficacious and state of the art therapy, the pharmacy staff oversees many clinical drug studies that provide the newest drugs and dosage forms for use in veterinary patients.

Compounding Laboratory

The NCSU CVM VTH Pharmacy staff are specially trained in veterinary compounding. With huge variety in patient species and size, commercially available medications must be altered to suit the needs of the individual patient. The NCSU CVM VTH Pharmacy staff make all efforts to ensure that the medications we deliver are the perfect strength for a specific patient, and our pharmacists consult with owners to determine any flavoring needs to improve acceptance by the pet. If you would like more information about our compounding program, please contact the Director of Pharmacy.
